What IEI believes that access to credible, unbiased information is critical to good decision making and smart policy. In that spirit, we’re delighted to present our new county-level tool so that you can “Raise the Bar” for health and wellness in your community.
See how improvements in food insecurity, graduation rates, obesity levels, smoking and number of creative jobs can affect your county’s health score. You might be surprised by some of the connections. For example, did you know that more affordable housing can improve the health of a county’s citizens, leading to fewer hospital visits and bigger paychecks?
See the connections for yourself in each of North Carolina’s 100 counties, and explore how to improve your community’s health.

How This tool illustrates the connections between various social and economic conditions and a set of specific health outcomes. Policies are identified that can improve these conditions, and so improve more general economic and health outcomes.
