An initiative of the North Carolina Council of Churches

For Health Partners

Thank you for partnering with the North Carolina Council of Churches to improve the health of clergy and congregants in our state!

We know from many sources – including the documentary series, Unnatural Causes – that everyone does not have the same opportunity to lead a healthy life.  Where a person lives, the economic status of a person or family and an individual's connection to community all play an important role in their health and well-being.

As partners, we will mutually share information and tools to help congregations in North Carolina address the complex issue of health and to create lasting change from a holistic perspective.  Our areas of focus for Partners in Health and Wholeness include: 1) raising awareness about health as a practice of our faith; 2) creating and implementing strong policies and environments that promote physical activity, healthy eating and tobacco use prevention and cessation; and 3) reducing the isolation of congregants to improve their overall health.

Throughout this website, you will find links to some of your resources as we seek to provide people of faith with the tools necessary to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.  Please keep the Council and our affiliated churches in mind as you develop new materials; we would love to post them on our site as well.  Furthermore, we would be happy to include information about upcoming events sponsored by your organization in the Council's weekly email compilations to clergy, congregants and other interested persons across the state.  Simply send three or four lines describing the event as well as the date, time and location to: willona@nccouncilofchurches.org.

If you would like to participate in upcoming PHW events, such as our clergy breakfasts or health liaison trainings, feel free to contact us by phone at 919-828-6501 or by email.  Dates and locations for these events can be found on our program calendar .
