Sunday Night Health Series

  • Introduction to Health as a Faith Issue; Why health matters, resources

Jesus gives us the example that health and wellness is desired by God for us. He healed many people to show the power and demonstrate God’s love for us. These are just a hand full of scriptures that talk of how God healed. We are able to honor God through our bodies by eating healthily and treating our bodies with honor and as the sacred dwelling place of God’s Holy Spirit. (1 Co. 3:16-17)

  • The message to men of Faith, ‘But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”’ Joshua 24:15 NIV

Men have a responsibility to love your wives as Christ Loved the Church. Ephesians 5:25- Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her

How you rear your house and your habits sets an example for your household. It is important for you to model serving the Lord with treating our bodies as the temple of the Lord as well as loving your wife to make it easy for her to be healthy.  Men have a direct responsibility from the Lord to model their lives after Christ and to lead others to do the same. Men are an important source for wives and children to be healthy, guard your hearts men and live out the gospel, taking the lead on healthy initiatives.

Action: Sign the endorsement resolution to start healthy habits

Collective Action: begin a prayer group dedicated to praying for each other and other men of faith to take different action around health issues and support for families and each other. Prayer changes things and we want God to be a part of this process!

  • The message of Faith to our Youth, We need you and you can be our leaders, when we don’t know how you might have the answer to lead! ‘Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.’
  • Health advocacy young and old, Matt. 22:39 ‘And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.’  Not only are we called to take of ourselves, being the temple of God, but help support those who have less than us. We also are called to be the voice to the voiceless. Acts 2:44-45 (Phi) All the believers joined together and shared everything in common; they sold their possessions and goods and divided the proceeds among the fellowship according to individual need.

Acts 4:32,34-35 (NIV) All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had... There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need.
